Rings Ring Pompadour (Bague Pompadour). It forsees a central oval-shaped ruby, sapphire or emerald, surrounded by small diamond-cut brilliants. |
Rings: The so-called navette cut, or marquise The navette cut is surely one of the most elegant. It has the oblong shape of a pointed oval whose extremities light up with a thousand glares. It is also called "Marquise" in honour of the refined Madame de Pompadour. The legend says that the navette cut was desired by Luis XV, who wanted his craftmen to make a jewel reminding Mme de Pompadours mouth shape. |
