The Evreux Castle (the Elysee) (map)

Built between 1718 and 1722 for Henry-Louis de la Tour d’Auvergne Count of Evreux.

Madame de Pompadour bought the Castle in 1753 after the death of the Count, and charged the architect Lassurance for a few changes in the rooms.

She left the castle to Louis XV at her death.

At present day it is the residence of the President of France.

Despite a few restorations the original decorations are still visible.
